HEATHENS are through to the National League Knockout Cup Final.
The former Cradley club have beaten the Isle of Wight by 34-points on aggregate after last Thursday’s 21-15 score in the away leg of the semi-final was allowed to stand.
The meeting was abandoned after six races because of fog and Islanders bosses have told the Speedway Control Bureau they wish to concede the tie.
Now they will face the winners of the Mildenhall v Stoke Semi-Final which will be decided next month.
Heathens Chairman Nigel Pearson said: “We are naturally delighted to be going through to a major final and we will make it a very special occasion.
“Cradley had a fantastic record in the cup competitions and we want to keep that going.
“The Islanders are concerned about a lack of dates because of the bad weather and they conceded there was very little chance of turning the tie around.
“We did the work in the first leg and rode well in the return only for the fog to come down. Hopefully the final will be held in good conditions!”
