Born: 2 July 1987, Kibler Park, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa
‘Boris’, as he is affectionately known, is arguably South Africa’s most decorated speedway rider and an experienced rider at National League Level.
After an initial foray with Newcastle in 2004, Bekker then moved to Scunthorpen and became a vital part of their excellent Conference League sides, winning eight trophies in three years. When the Scorpions added a Premier League side in 2008, Bekker was given his chance.
After a solid first season he struggled for form in 2009 and was released by Scunthorpe, only to join Edinburgh shortly after. Unable to regain his best form, he asked to be released from the Edinburgh side in October.
A season back in the National League with Weymouth followed, before Bekker moved north in 2010 to join Belle Vue’s new National League set-up. His form was good and he was given another chance at Premier League level by Edinburgh late in the year. The South African will hope to form a powerful partnership with Adam Roynon at the top end for Dudley in 2012.
